Socrates Sculpture Park hosted THE TRAGEDY OF RICHARD II on Sunday, August 20, in addition to Kids & the Classics, a children’s half-hour workshop that precedes the performance by Queens-based Hip to Hip Theatre Company. The out-of-touch King Richard is challenged by his cousin Henry Bolingbroke for the throne – it’s a fight the king can’t win. But in losing his crown, he gains his humanity and his soul. The Kids & the Classics interactive workshop engages youth through theatre games and close reading. All programs are free, no RSVP required. The Park is open 9am to Sunset, 365 days a year. Admission is always free.
