Celebrating Influential African Americans In Queens

February is Black History Month, during which we celebrate and pay tribute to the rich history of the African American diaspora in the country. Across the country, schools and other institutions recognize the importance of events and people that have contributed significantly to the development of the nation, be it culturally, politically, or socially. 

La Strega Buona – The Good Witch

La Strega Buona (Italian for the good witch) is a one-person-run aromatherapy business created by Anna Mascia. A company dedicated to making quality essential oil products with all natural ingredients with no fillers or artificial substances.


Camryn Bruno is a 19-year-old spoken word poet who was born in Queens and raised in Trinidad and Tobago until she returned to Queens in 2018 to attend York College. Camryn is currently the 2018-2019 NYC Youth Poet Laureate, the holder of The Trinidad and Tobago First Citizens National Poetry Slam title for 2017, and the Ms. Tobago Heritage Personality Queen for 2017.
