Astoria has so many local shops – don’t fret if you haven’t checked off everyone on your list yet. The Queens Scene has a few places we think you should visit for those last-minute gift ideas. These places will make Christmas shopping fun again!

No need to order online, just take a walk and browse the aisles at Astoria Book Shop for best sellers, new releases, and everything in between. The helpful staff will also give you some of their top picks. You are sure to make any bookworm happy.

Lavender Label, 29-03 23rd Avenue: Home of the little soap shop, take in the amazing aromas of this shop. Among their items for sale are all organic soaps, lotions, sugar scrubs, hand soaps and shower gels. They also have filled gift baskets. They also sell ready-made gift sets, toys, kids’ clothing and accessories – perfect for stocking stuffers.

SNS Fine Jewelers, 36-20 30th Avenue: Looking for something special and personal? Check out their contemporary and vintage jewelry items. They also specialize in the restoration of timepieces. The selections at SNS are very unique.

Rudy’s Hobby Shop, 35-16 30th Avenue: For the craft-y person in your life, Rudy’s has an amazing selection of art supplies, plastic and wood models, train sets, religious items, and much more.

The Brass Owl, 36-19 Ditmars Boulevard: The perfect boutique that offers ladies’ shoes, clothing and accessories. You are sure to find something to please that special someone on your holiday list.

Mediterranean Foods market, two locations: 22-78 35th Street and 30-12 34th Street: Food and delicacies from all nations. Stop in, and pick up some imported cheeses and olives and make a basket of goodies to give as a gift. They also have a café serving Greek pastries.

Whiskers Holistic Pet Care, 19-25 Ditmars Boulevard: Let’s not forget our furry friends. Whiskers has all your pet nutrition and supply needs. Stop in and pick up some treats or toys. Family-owned and operated, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

Q.E.D. A Place to Show & Tell, 27-16 23rd Avenue: Looking for a special one of a kind gift? Q . E . D has classes you won’t find anywhere else, shows, books, journals and artwork for every person in your life. If they are impossible to shop for, then a Q.E.D VIP pass for 30 days of shows is sure to be a winner.

The Hour Children Shops, 31-24 Steinway Street: Hour Children’s thrift shop provides a wide variety of high quality items, including high quality and designer apparel, vintage and antique furniture, housewares, art, and jewelry – all at reasonable prices. Hour Children’s shops also provide employment and training for those in the Hour Children program, so come shop and help support them! Inventory changes all the time.

Broadway Silk Store, 35-11 Broadway: An 80-year-old family-owned fabric and gift shop with vintage items. Stop in and take a look around at the rows of colorful fabric, sewing tools, arts and crafts and funky jewelry and eclectic items.
