Sweet Sincerely

Sweet Sincerely hand-painted gifts and items for the holidays and every day! Sweet Sincerely hand-painted gifts and items for the holidays and every day! For something custom made and one of kind this holiday season, check out Queens’ crafter, Sweet Sincerely.

Sweet Sincerely is a calligraphy and art business started by Samneang “Sam” Lina Sin, an Astoria resident for the past five years. The business started when family and friends requested custom cards, letters and art pieces, knowing that Sam had a background in fine arts and design. All her pieces are made locally, at her home in Astoria and her art supplies are typically bought from artists and craftsman in Long Island City. Sam’s business offers a variety of calligraphy styles, ranging from pointed pen work to broad edge pen, as well as a variety of media artwork ranging from oil, watercolor, acrylic, to pen and paper of the highest quality sourced from all over the world. Whenever Sam travels to another country she always stops by an art store to pick up supplies to bring back home, even if it’s just a pencil and simple stationery.

Some of Sam’s favorite places she has been to have been London and Paris. She says the quaint shops are like stepping into a Harry Potter wand shop!

Sweet Sincerely has now grown to include wedding and event decorations and favors, in-store customization. Her custom tote bags with flower paintings and dog portraits are her largest-sellers at local markets. According to Sam, people love to have their dogs painted on the tote bags. They also love special quotes that are meaningful to them. Sam loves the idea that utilitarian objects that you can carry, share or hang up at home as art pieces.

Each Sweet Sincerely piece takes time – that’s the reason why she has been hesitant about mass-producing her work. “I want people to remember that each piece I do. I put a lot of effort and time and thought into it. There is no real control when you are painting sometimes you can make a mistake. You can either start again from scratch or let the mistake take you to where you didn’t know it could go,” Sam said.

This holiday season Sam will be creating custom one-of-a-kind holiday cards and beautiful customized ornaments, calendars featuring watercolor paintings and drawings, affirmation cards, and her popular tote bags.

Looking toward the future Sam would love to continue vending at local markets and ramping up for wedding season, which begins in April.

Sweet Sincerely items are the perfect, personalized keepsake gifts this holiday season for that special someone(s)!
