Kitchen had a grand opening on Broadway in June, offering a fresh, new twist on the Chinese buffet concept. The clean, bright, modern interior of this petite eatery offers seating on stools at sleek, granite counters, or you can take your delicious order to take away with you.

BT Kitchen has literally turned the Chinese buffet concept around, offering a variety of freshly prepared dishes behind a sparkling glass counter, where the efficient staff “plates” your selections, then serves it to you on a cool tray.

Here’s how it works: Create your custom combo by choosing two proteins and two sides, all for just $8.99. There are a dozen protein options including Hong Kong steak sautéed with Asian sauce, crispy fried shrimp, baked salmon, and mussels in black bean sauce, for example. Each is made fresh and nicely presented behind the glass for you to select. Fresh supplies are constantly replenished so your dish is never sitting around or touched by anyone else. More entrée options include chicken and broccoli, Italian style sausage, boneless spare ribs and General Tso’s chicken.

I chose Hong Kong steak and salt and pepper shrimp, crispy outside and juicy inside, and paired it up with some bean salad and lo mein as my sides. My friend ordered the chicken and broccoli and the fresh baked salmon, which he declared flaky and delicious, accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. Other side dishes include sweet corn, fluffy white rice, fried rice, macaroni and cheese, baked spinach au gratin, pasta or French fries. BT Kitchen’s salads count as one side dish and there’s bean salad, crab meat salad, romaine salad or a mixed fruit salad to complete your combo.

BT Kitchen offers five pre-selected combos for just $7.99 each to make ordering easier. One combo has teriyaki chicken and garlic seafood as the mains, accompanied by baked spinach and mashed potatoes. Another combines stuffed shrimp, sausage, mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes. Order the seafood combo with mussels in black bean sauce, crayfish, fried rice and mixed vegetables. Add some house-made soup such as hot and sour, seafood soup, or clam chowder for just $2.50.

Beverages for purchase are behind the register. Just order your favorite soft drink and while you’re there, check out the desserts. Creamy cheese cake, vanilla or chocolate pudding, tiramisu, and flan are all packed as individual servings, so you can grab and go. BT Kitchen offers free delivery with a $15.00 minimum. Call in your order or stop in on your way home from work. Their QR code is coming soon. Visit BT Kitchen and flip the buffet around with one of their delicious, fresh combos, to stay or to go, open 7 days a week from 11am to 10pm.
