Fresh air and fresh produce meet at the Brooklyn Grange Farm’s LIC Rooftop Farm, its flagship rooftop, actual farm at 37-18 Northern Boulevard, Long Island City. They offer workshops, tours and yoga, and their Saturday open houses resume on May 19. The farmer’s market starts now, on May 12 and features not only fresh food, but live chickens to visit! Check their website www.brooklyngrangefarm.com for their schedule and RSVP requirements.

Rooftop soccer is about as good as life gets, whether you’re a participant or onlooker. The Upper 90 Soccer Center, at 34-23 38 Street in Astoria, is built on top of what used to be a car dealership and offers three outdoor turf soccer fields, charity soccer, a café, soccer store and private party room. They host leagues and pickup games, toddler play, teach the sport and offer a great party venue for kids or adults. Their website, www.u90soccercenter.com has more details.

Soccer isn’t your sport? How about ice skating? City Ice Pavilion, at 47-32 32 Place in Long Island City, is the only rooftop ice rink in the five boroughs. City Ice offers skating school, youth and adult hockey, and birthday parties. Check their website, www.cityicepavilion.com , for more details.

Going on vacation? Check out JFK’s rooftop amenities at terminals 4 and 5. T4 has Delta’s Sky Club and Sky Deck.

Interestingly, Rooftop Films, who shows movies throughout the city, don’t screen on any local roofs. They do, however, show movies at Socrates Sculpture Park, www.socratessculpturepark.org .

Then there are the bars and restaurants; they are abundant here. In Astoria they include Luna Asian Bistro & Lounge, and T Studio and Melrose Ballroom for events. LIC Rooftops include Z NYC Hotel, Boro Hotel, Studio Square, and the Vista Sky Lounge.
