Elegant Entertainment At The Astor Room

The legendary Astor Room restaurant, at 35-15 35th Avenue, has a mix of entertainment scheduled for November. Located at Kaufman Astoria Studios, the Astor Room was established 2011 in a historic space that was once home to the Paramount Pictures commissary during cinema’s silent era. The Astor Room is a celebration of film history, classic cocktails and fine continental cuisine, with a twist. The interior has been preserved to capture the restaurant’s glamorous Jazz Age origins, when the likes of Rudolph Valentino, W.C. Fields and Gloria Swanson would dine there. Today the Astor Room has become a popular after-work destination for cast, crew and staff from the productions shooting at Kaufman Astoria Studios, as well as locals who live in the neighborhood’s bustling arts community. It has also earned a reputation as one of the area’s premiere entertainment venues and was included in the USA Today Ten Best list of New York City piano bars. Comedy Night is on Thursday November 16 at 8 p.m.: An evening of stand-up comedy hosted by Brandon Collins and Chrissie Mayr. Comedians include Aaron Berg, Christie Meehan, Laneya Wiles, H Foley, Chanel Ali and Courtney Fearington. (RSVP via EventBrite.com). $5 plus 1-drink minimum
