Savor Simplicity

Most great holiday gatherings start with great food and end with quality time spent with loved ones. This holiday season, rely on simple recipes that let you spend less time in the kitchen and more time celebrating special moments with family and friends.

Ditmars And Beyond, Where Live Music Lives

As a newer transplant to Astoria with only a year and a few months under my belt here, it’s been a sonic delight discovering the local venues that showcase live music – a hobby of mine since I was 15 years old (and trust me, without revealing my age that’s a long time seeing concerts).

Peter Tatara, LeftField’s VP of Anime Events, has worked in the events industry for over 15 years. At LeftField, he oversees Anime NYC and all the company’s activities involving Japanese pop culture. Anime NYC, the city’s anime convention, is happening this weekend, November 16-18, at the Javits Center. Visit Animenyc.com for information and tickets.

Leah is an actor, most recently seen in NYC in the title role of Medea with Titan Theatre company at Queens Theatre in Flushing. Beth is a freelance director who also co-founded Three Day Hangover, the company behind the boozy, Off-Broadway Drunkle Vanya and creators of the long-running hit Drunk Shakespeare.

Antika Pizzeria

Antika Pizzeria on 30th Avenue is a family style pizzeria and restaurant that’s equally suitable for couples on a date, friends, and family meals. Everyone loves pizza and Antika’s signature thin crust pizza, perfectly charred in a brick oven, is my go-to spot for a great pie.

Meet Astoria

This month’s Meet Astoria profile is about Jennifer Weil or known to some on Instagram as @Astoriabout. Born in Houston, TX, Jennifer calls Atlanta home, after Astoria. Jennifer and her mom picked up and moved every two or so years when she was growing up, mostly between Tennessee and Georgia.
