Camping And Backpacking Spots Near Us!

For the adventurous spirits out there, Queens does not offer any opportunities to spend a couple of nights relaxing in the back country. However, there are some beautiful campgrounds and state parks not too far from Queens that are great for camping or backpacking.

Q.E.D Astoria, the “after-school” for grown ups, café and event space run by Astoria native Kambri Crews, located at 27-16 23rd Ave., Astoria, each month puts on a ton of shows and classes aimed toward adults. In the past, some examples of the classes they have put on are: Knitting 101 and the Basics of Drawing for the Graphic Novel.

Sun, Sand, ‘N’ Shorelines

Being located on an island that extends into the Atlantic Ocean, Queens has many beaches along its southern shores. The northern shores of Queens do not have any beaches because of industrial development. Beaches are formed by waves or currents that transport sand or sediments. The sediments and sand accumulate along the shoreline to form beaches.

There’s no time like the summer to start discovering new locations to ride your bike, or at the very least, take a joy ride, coasting on a two wheeler in your summer garb. And now that Astoria has renovated some of its streets with newer biking conditions, there’s nothing like riding with the wind through your hair to cool you down.
